Wednesday is a travel day back to Bern to reset clothing and laundry, then Thursday to journey south to Lugano, the last leg of our journey.
The Chur train station looks almost like... CHURCHurchchur.
Wednesday met Hans Peter and Esthi's daughter Sabrina and her kids (from left to right) Enea, Nayenda, and Avalyn. They live just minutes from each other.
Then we had a chance for another brief visit to Thun in the evening to enjoy a new water, light, and music show.
Strolling along the Aare River before heading to the evening's water show.
In the City of Thun on the Aare river, this fall they produced the Wasserzauber (water magic), a beautiful light and water show set to music. The theme Wedensday was the four seasons, represented by a tree making its journey through each.
Thursday the Weiss' decided to join us in Lugano, so we drove from Bern to Lugano over some incredible passes, long tunnels, and spectacular viewpoints. This photo doesn't do the view justice, but my expression says it all: "What a trip!"
Proof that you can fit two couple's luggage into a compact car, with an extra (big) bag on top. We dropped the big bag at the train Thun station where they send and hold it at Zurich airport for us.
If we couldn't see gorgeous scenery out of our windows, it was usually because of the myriad of tunnels we would be driving through. Some, very long!
Right next to Lucarno, Ascona is another lakefront tourist spot.
If only our suitcases were bigger, our souvenir bags would be too. I think I'm tossing some old clothes to make room for the important stuff.
In our Italian restaurant. At 5:30 pm, the place was empty. By 6:00 pm, the place was full and turning away people.
In the town of Locarno, near Lugano, there is a walkway filled with bronze handprints. They are impressions from famous musicians who have visited the city during music festivals. The bronze highlighted in the photo is of singer Tom Jones.
